Services for Women

Age Medicine

As we age, we are more prone to disease. Age affects the way we look, the way we feel, and our overall health.

Can we stop the aging process? NO.

Can we decrease the “side effects” of aging? YES.

Personalized wellness is not a fountain of youth, but it is a way of increasing the overall quality of life whether you are 30, 60, or 90 years old. Health and wellness is a balance among a myriad of factors within the body and your daily life. Healthy Futures combines 21st century lab analysis and diagnostic imaging with nutrition consultation, exercise counseling, and hormone modulation to help your body achieve the optimal levels unique to your body and lifestyle considerations. This all-encompassing approach allows your doctor to identify areas of concern within your body and/or lifestyle and create a plan to mitigate the risks of metabolic and/or hormonal imbalances while simultaneously allowing you to live a more active and enjoyable life.

Increased Libido

When the body decreases the production of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, libido can decline. Women going through perimenopause or menopause may also experience vaginal dryness, which can be helped with bio-identical hormonal supplementation.

Energy Deficiency

Our services can help make you feel better and increase your energy levels.

Sleep Apnea

Hormone imbalance can cause disturbed sleeping patterns that include, waking up many times during the night or difficulty falling asleep. When hormones are balanced, accurate signals go to the brain to regulate sleep cycles.

Weight Loss

Hormone imbalances can cause weight to increase in the body’s attempt to protect itself from an estrogen deficiency. Estrogen is contained in fat, and when it is balanced, the body will let go of extra fat. Progesterone helps to reduce bloating and water retention, and when it is balanced, women can reduce their weight and bloating.

Female Care, Pre-and Post-Menopausal

Many women may not know that during and after menopause, women are more susceptible to serious health risks such as:
  • Osteoporosis
  • Heart Disease
  • Cancer

If you deal with any of the following symptoms, Healthy Futures can help:

  • Sleep Difficulties
  • Fatigue
  • Hair Loss
  • Weight Gain
  • Dizziness
  • Breast Pain
  • Joint Pain
  • Digestive problems
  • Muscle tension
  • Itchy Skin

With Dr. Tice’s fellowships training and our access to advanced diagnostic testing we’re able to perform a head-to-toe evaluation of the individual and apply our knowledge in which we balance the individual to lessen the severe causes of pre-or post-menopause, bringing them to a balanced state.

Reduced Hot Flashes or Night Sweats

Estrogen helps the hypothalamus to set the body’s temperature, and when it is deficient, the hypothalamus cannot sustain a regular body temperature. Bio-identical hormone supplementation can reduce temperature fluctuations and relieve hot flashes and night sweats.

Diabetes Treatment

Type 2 Diabetes is a problem with your body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal. Another term used is hyperglycemia. Type 2 Diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and is developed by poor lifestyle choices such as:

  • Being overweight
  • Consuming drinks and foods with sugar and simple carbohydrates
  • Artificial Sweeteners
  • Lack of activity and exercise
  • Stress
  • Genetics
All of the items mentioned above can be reversed!
With our practices training and access to advanced diagnostic testing, the information we receive on our patients is comprehensive in which we are able to address all factors for the patient and plan a course with pinpointed treatment.
Advanced Lipid Testing

Our advanced lipid tests can check for abnormalities in your HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels. The test can also help identify genetic disorders and cardiovascular disease risk factors.

Pre-Diabetic Testing

This is an advanced lab test that help determine underlying causes of health problems that are not always clearly apparent. Many times, a problem can be identified and treated before it causes vital or permanent damage.

Weight Loss

Unfortunately, we are bombarded with information and misinformation from the time we wake up to the moment we fall asleep.  What is a healthy diet? What is the best way to lose weight? Should I follow the low-carb, low-fat Subway Diet?  Or the Atkins Diet? The list goes on and on.

Most people agree that being overweight or obese will lead to countless medical problems.  Although there are many obese people with medical problems, most doctors do not receive adequate nutritional education.  “Eat less, Exercise More” is the common answer to our weight loss questions.

The goal of this program, however, is not just to help you lose weight.  Anybody can lose weight with exercise and low calorie diets.  Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge, the nutritional and behavioral guidance, and the specific tools you need to take control of your own health and ultimately reach and maintain your ideal weight.

Part of our program uses technologies to determine several factors.  First, we can establish what type of diet is best suited for an individual to maintain proper weight.  Second, adjustments can be made to an individual’s diet to help reduce damage caused by inflammatory factors associated with fats and/or carbohydrates.  We are able to see tendencies toward cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and strokes long before they happen.

Nutrition Consultation

Healthy Futures’ nutritionists will tailor a nutrition plan in accordance with your health considerations as well as any culinary restrictions due to allergies, lifestyle, and/or religious considerations.

Dexascan and Body Composition Analysis

The DXA whole body composition test, measures your overall body composition and fat data. It also determines (with your exercise or diet program) where on the body you are losing or gaining weight, and whether it is fat or muscle. No other body fat test method or body composition measurement method is able to give detailed fat, muscle, and bone mapping information.

Exercise Consultation

In consultation with Healthy Futures’ medical staff and only after your health and physical capabilities have been determined, a Health Futures exercise consultant will recommend an exercise regimen that is within your ability but will set you on a path towards greater health and well-being.

Testing and Treatment

Nutrition Consultation

Proper nutrition is a vital cornerstone to a healthy lifestyle NOT a diet, but a well-rounded nutrition plan tailored to the unique characteristics of your body and lifestyle. Using your lab results, including genetics, your Healthy Futures team will identify foods and nutrients that are well metabolized by your body as well as those which are not well suited for your health. Combining this information with a certified nutritionist we can help you learn how to change your lifestyle, and understand how proper nutrition can and will play a key role in your progression towards greater health.

Lifestyle Consultation

Exercise is another critical piece of the puzzle. Regular activity that increases your heart rate will help increase your cardiovascular fitness and help improve or prevent many of the conditions associated with aging such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, and osteoporosis. Under the supervision of your Healthy Futures team, and after you have undergone a thorough medical review, we will recommend an exercise routine that has been created specifically for you.

Genetic Testing

Genetic Testing allows us to modify environmental factors like nutrition, vitamins, minerals, and medications to lessen catastrophic events. We can determine which people are most likely to develop dangerous blood clots in their life and treat them effectively.  We can also find and treat people who are genetically unable to convert folic acid or B12 into their active forms.  When discovered, we can use converted forms of these vitamins to help prevent a variety of diseases.

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Women can experience hormonal imbalances at any age; however, most women begin to experience hormonal decline in the mid to late 30’s or early 40’s. Hormonal imbalances can be caused due to stress, a poor diet, environmental factors, lack of sleep, smoking or alcohol, poor nutrition, and having a baby. The hormones that most commonly begin to decline are estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. While testosterone is thought to mainly be a male hormone, women do produce small amounts of testosterone in their adrenal glands, and it is important for maintaining libido, energy, and muscle mass. Perimenopause is the period when estrogen and progesterone start to drop, and it usually occurs 4-6 years prior to menopause. Perimenopause can cause irregular periods, mood swings, acne, migraines, headaches, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, low libido, and fatigue.

After several years of perimenopause and not having a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months, menopause officially begins. After menopause begins, many of the symptoms change and intensify, and new symptoms appear. During menopause, the ovaries have stopped producing significant amounts of estrogen and progesterone, and ideally, the adrenal glands are supposed to take over the production of these hormones. However, in most women, the adrenal glands are exhausted due to stress, lack of sleep, or a poor diet, and they cannot produce the necessary amounts of hormones. During menopause, a woman may experience symptoms such as weight gain, reduced libido, mood swings, insomnia, and hot flashes.

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy can provide a myriad of benefits for women suffering from hormone decline. Women do not have to suffer through perimenopause or menopause and can enjoy their transition out of the reproductive years. Dr. Tice’s expert programs can help to meet individual needs and improve overall health. Some of the benefits of bio-identical hormones may include:

Reduced Hot Flashes or Night Sweats

Estrogen helps the hypothalamus to set the body’s temperature, and when it is deficient, the hypothalamus cannot sustain a regular body temperature. Bio-identical hormone supplementation can reduce temperature fluctuations and relieve hot flashes and night sweats.

Stronger Bones

Estrogen influences the absorption of calcium, and improper absorption of calcium can cause bones to become porous, lose their density, and become more breakable. Bio-identical hormones can help to keep the bones strong and reduce women’s chances of developing osteoporosis.

Healthier Emotional Balance

Anger, anxiety, depression, and sadness are all influenced by hormone fluctuation. Brain chemistry can be affected with hormonal imbalances to create mood changes, and when hormones are balanced, moods can become more stable.

Improved Skin Elasticity

Estrogen coupled with vitamin C influence the suppleness of the skin by promoting collagen production. Collagen is the material that helps skin to stay youthful, fresh, and elastic, and if it cannot be produced in the necessary amounts, skin can become dry and wrinkled.

Aesthetic Treatment

Healthy Futures offers a variety of anti-aging and aesthetic treatment options to help you look and feel good! Dr. Tice can identify and treat a number of diseases and symptoms using the latest therapies and treatments. Dr. Tice offers plenty of services including bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, botox injections, and various other skin treatments.

Two of the most common treatment modalities for wrinkles and the aging face include Botox and Dermal fillers. Botox typically treats dynamic wrinkles, or “wrinkles of motion”. These areas are typically around the eyes and above. Treatment with botox typically lasts 3 months.

Fillers are used to treat static wrinkles, volume loss, and folds. They are also used to augment certain facial and body features such as lips and hands. The most common fillers used today utilize a gel like substance which is made up of hyaluronic acid. This is in different concentrations in order to achieve different results, depending on the area/areas being treated. Typically, higher concentrations fillers are used to fill more volume loss and lower percentage fillers are used on lips, fine lines, and around the eyes. Some common areas that are treated are the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, lips, cheek and chin augmentation, and on the hands for volume loss that occurs as we age. Hyaluronic acid fillers look completely natural and are extremely safe as hyaluronic acid is naturally in tissues throughout the body. Fillers typically last anywhere between 6 months to 2 years, depending on the product used, among other factors.

Botox Injections

Botox injections can be used for cosmetic purpose but can also be helpful for those with chronic headaches. Sometimes the muscle strain and fatigue from working at computers causes headaches in the upper neck and forehead areas.

Skin Lesion Biopsies and Skin Tag Removals

Skin tags are common in people that have developed insulin resistance or are diabetic. These tags can be bothersome and socially an embarrassment. They can easily and effectively get removed in a simple office procedure.

Derma Roller

This is a relatively new process for skin resurfacing. It does not use laser or heat so there is no collateral skin damage. It can be used to soften or alleviate scars and create a much smoother skin surface. It can be used on all skin types. Healing times is less than other modes of therapy and is safely, effectively and near painlessly carried out under topical anesthesia in the office.
