Age Medicine

As people age, they are more prone to disease. You may not even realize it, but some of your daily lifestyle habits might actually be making you age faster. We help you work with your body to improve the way you look, the way you feel, and your overall health.

Can we stop the aging process? NO.
Can we decrease the “side effects” of aging? YES.

Personalized wellness is not a fountain of youth, it is a way of increasing the overall quality of life – whether you are 30, 60, or 90. Health and wellness is a balance among a myriad of factors within the body and your environment. Healthy Futures combines 21st century lab analysis and diagnostic imaging with nutrition consultation, exercise counseling, and hormone modulation to help your body achieve the optimal levels unique to your body and lifestyle considerations. This all-encompassing approach allows your doctor to identify areas of concern within your body and/or lifestyle. We then create a plan to mitigate the risks of metabolic and/or hormonal imbalances, while simultaneously allowing you to live a more active and enjoyable life.

Do you know the signs of aging? Contrary to popular belief, individuals can show signs of aging as early as their 20s and 30s. We help our patients find confidence and healthier skin no matter what age.

Increased Libido for Women

As the body decreases its production of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, libido can decline. Women going through perimenopause or menopause may also experience vaginal dryness, which can be helped with bioidentical hormonal supplementation.

Increased Libido for Men

Testosterone is responsible for maintaining libido and sexual function, and when it is deficient, libido can reduce. When this first begins to happen, men may notice a lack of desire or interest, and after time, all of the sex drive can disappear. Bioidentical testosterone can improve libido and reignite sexual passion.

Sleep Apnea for Women

Hormone imbalance can cause disturbed sleeping patterns that include, waking up many times during the night or difficulty falling asleep. When hormones are balanced, accurate signals go to the brain to regulate sleep cycles.

Sleep Apnea for Men

Imbalanced hormones can cause the hypothalamus, which is responsible for setting the body’s sleep cycles, to become confused and set irregular sleeping patterns. Men can experience trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, waking up multiple times at night, and waking up early in the morning and being unable to fall back asleep. Bioidentical hormones can rectify hormone deficiencies and regulate sleeping patterns.

Weight Loss and Diet Control for Women

Hormone imbalances can cause weight to increase in the body’s attempt to protect itself from an estrogen deficiency. Estrogen is contained in fat, and when balanced, the body will let go of extra fat. Progesterone helps reduce bloating and water retention, and when balanced, women can reduce their weight and bloating. Extra body fat can begin to accumulate around the middle as a result of hormonal decline. This occurs because decreased muscle mass burns away less fat and reduces metabolism. When the body’s metabolic processes slow down, the body burns energy more slowly. This can cause the body to accumulate more fat. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can help the body burn off this accumulated fat.

Increased Muscle Mass for Men

Muscle atrophy can result from a testosterone decrease, due to the hormones’ role in building muscle. During andropause, most men lose around 12-15 pounds of muscle mass. This is because testosterone helps the red blood cells to produce and build muscle tissue, and when deficient, the body cannot adequately build muscle. Bioidentical hormones can restore hormones and increase muscle mass.
